Bakula and Stockwell were hard -to -follow deeds, and the new Quantum jump Without re -drawing either actor. Instead, Sam’s legacy and his observer, Al Calavicci (Stockwell), was held by Dr. Ben Song (Raymond Lee) and Addison Augustin (Caitlin Bassett). Like the observer, Addison is a head connection with the present that appears to him as a hologram that can only see or hear. The show did not wait long to reveal that Ben and Addison were engaged to be married. She was even supposed to be the Leaper. That’s the subtext that Bassett has to play as Addison, as Ben can’t remember all the details of his life.
Lee proved to be a worthy successor to Bakula, and carried the show on his shoulders. Bassett also had a major role as the connection between the stories set in the past and present. Their best work was almost always when Ben and Addison were together, with an emotional gulf and years of time physically separating them.

One of the great aspects of the original series that carried over to this show is that the main character lives someone else’s life in each chapter. There are troubled reasons why no one other than Addison can see that Ben is not the person is that he exchanges places with it. So you have to go with him.
Each chapter has a different time frame and a new support cast, but the story structure is always the same. Ben arrives in the past, before he and Addison find out what is supposed to change. There is never no doubt as a result of that formula. The fun part is to watch Ben and Addison as they try different answers before finding the one who will let him move on to the next jump. This equates to a science fiction procedural show, and the default is still working.

Ironically, the thing that separates the modern Quantum jump From its predecessor is the way it links back to the original series. Although Bakula refused to re -appear his role, the mystery of Sam’s fate plays into the Genesis of this show. Quantum jump Also establishes a new mystery when it reveals that Ben has a hidden reason to go back in time. That leaves the other characters to find out why he did so, as Ben can’t remember the details himself.
Ernie Hudson He has the role of Costarring as Herbert “Magic” Williams, Sam’s character he jumped into in the first series. Now, magic is the head of Project Quantum Leap, and can share scenes with Al Widow, Beth Calavicci, as played by the only performer returning from the original series, Susan good.
