This Robot Vacuum has a claw arm that is perfect for picking up Rogue Socks

It was only a matter of time before robotic vacuum cleaners reached a new stage of evolution. Over the years, they have become faster, smarter, and can even climb. So, it should come as no surprise to anyone here at CES 2025 that we’ll see one that can sprout a claw arm to aid in its cleaning duties.

The Roborock Saros Z70 is a robot vacuum cleaner with a folding arm in its chassis. The mechanical “OmniGrip” arm can extend and twist to pick up small objects or pieces of trash and drop them in a designated area.

The Saros Z70 will run its regular cleaning routine and note the things it can pick up. Once the initial cleaning is complete, it will search again to pick up the item and bring it. If you are impatient, you can control the arm yourself via the app. A camera inside the arm makes it easy to pick up objects and gives it a fun carnival game atmosphere.

The arm itself can only take items up to 300 grams. In a private demo, we saw the Saros Z70 attempt to take balled-up socks to mixed results. Roborock said the bot was running older software during the presentation; the claw arm struggled to pick up the loose sock on the first few attempts and even refused to come out of its compartment during a test run, requiring a handful of hard resets.

As you can see from the video, the AI-powered robot vacuum cleaner takes a long time to pick up and move the sock. However, if you run it at night or when you’re out and about, it’s probably not that big of a deal. In addition to socks, the Saros Z70 should be able to handle small toys, towels and slippers and put them back where they belong.

Roborock claims that the Saros Z70 detects up to 108 items with machine learning. The app allows you to define and label up to 50 personalized objects in your home. All information is stored on the device, never in the cloud.

Aside from being able to pick up your trash, the Saros Z70 offers everything you’d expect from a high-end robot vacuum cleaner. It dries, cleans the corners, and has a dock with fast charging. It will also work with smart home ecosystems like Apple Home, Google Home and Amazon Alexa.

The Roborock Saros Z70 will be launched later this year. The price has not yet been announced.
