But the killing comes at a cost: the Romani is cursing the land with evil that soon starting to infect the villagers – especially the Laurent family.

This chilling backstore gives the wolf literature a fresh turn and a moral thrill, based on colonialism, guilt and revenge. It’s a slow burning setup that pays off with devastating horror. Werewolf’s movies have been around for so long – The wolf guy Debuted in 1941 – they can sometimes feel a little goofy or cheesy. His creatures are horrific and visually, brought to life through a mixture of practical effects and CGI that emphasizes grotesque realism. (We are quite sure that a scene where McBride performs an autopsy on one of the wolf creatures will appear in our nightmares for a very long time.)

Director Sean Ellis reinvented the wolf transformation with an unpleasant originality. Instead of relying on full moons and fluffy members, these metamorphosis contains roots, soil and cinew – base the curse in nature and cloud the line between human and beast in annoying new ways. This Werewolf curse literally eats its victims, swallowing them deeply inside a body that does not belong to them.

In addition to the glowing story and memorable monsters, The cursed visually stunning. Ellis, who also served as a cinematographer, creates a bleak but beautiful gothic atmosphere with quiet colors, fog -drenched landscapes and costumes that correct a period that carries viewers straight to the 1800s.

The film also cleverly uses other horror iconography – a scary scare and a set of silver fangs in particular – to build a curse mythology, gaining fear with each scene.
