Mikel Arteta says that the removal of the Champions League semifinal at the hands of PSG “must hurt” his players if they are a day winning the competition.
The Gunners fell into the penultimate obstacle after a 2-1 defeat in the second leg in the Park des Princes-3-1 in total-when the French champions go to the Interilan face in Munich in the final.

Although he is funny in the defeat, Arteta believes that his team was the best of the two along the tie.
“First, (I want) congratulate PSG for having reached the final. The evaluation I will do when I’m a little cooler, but the feedback I got from his bench was that we were much better than them,” said Arsenal’s head.
“When you look at the two games that have been your best player on the pitch? He has been his goalkeeper.
“He has made the difference for the tie. And I think we were close. Much closer than he is shown. But unfortunately we are out.
“I am very proud of the players. What we did today, as we started, as we managed the pressure. After 20 minutes, it should be 3-0. But there is something necessary in the competition to go there and did not (for us).”
Arsenal is now scheduled for another season without a trophy: the fifth in a row. And Arteta believes that their players must learn from the pain of defeat to end their silver.
“I’m upset. Yes, we were very close. Yes, for long periods of the two games we were much better than them,” said Arteta.
“But we are not there and that has to hurt. If we want to win this competition and go there, we have realized.
“There are certain things we find. Understanding that we are out is not the way to look at it.”
