These 9 Influential Podcasts Helped Turn Trump’s Election: The Report

Bloomberg summarized the political worldview of these podcasters as presenting America as a country “destabilized rapid growth of inflation” and with “migrants flowing across the border and the beginning of the third world war”.

“Same messages were heard in Trump’s inaugural speech on Monday,” writes Bloomberg. “Now that Trump is back in power, broadcasters are well-positioned to help build support for his political agenda by turning grievances into policy that could have lasting effects beyond Trump’s term in office.”

“None of the broadcasters claim to be political experts, and their conservative theses have been sandwiched between loose discussions of sports, masculinity, internet culture, gambling and pranks, making the rhetoric more palatable to an apolitical audience,” the article says.

According to research on changes media preferences country, an Edison Research study found that “about 50% of people over the age of 12 listen to podcasts on a monthly basis,” Bloomberg reported.

As a particularly notable example in the 2024 cycle, Rogan’s interview with Trump in the final weeks of the campaign garnered more than 50 million views on YouTube.

After the election, Bloomberg wrote that influencers “continue to make videos on the same topics – with increasing freedom of action from platforms to content that previously defied the rules. Meanwhile, Rogan, Nelk Boys, Von, Fridman and Bet-David floated from event to events throughout the inauguration and the preceding weekend.”

Their influence, especially on young people, only grew in political arena. Bloomberg writes that Trump’s political rhetoric matches well with the most popular podcasters in the world.

“Trump’s personality and history are consistent with the programs’ messages about masculinity,” Alice Marwick, director of research at the Data and Society Research Institute, told Bloomberg.
