Netflix known for highly popular series as Ginny & georgia and Ransom canyonBut it is also home to some of the best sci-fi content around. During the past few years the Streamer has released two of the best things I have seen – 2024’s The signalabout a husband looking for his lost astronaut wife, and 2025’s The eternautfor a mysterious poisonous collapse that eliminates a city.
Brick It has the potential to be added to that list. The sci-fi thriller, for a mysterious brick wall holding residents in a fancy flat building, is expected to be released on July 10, but the trailer is out now, and I can’t already wait to watch it. Here are a few reasons why you should add the movie to your Netflix watchlist this summer.
‘Brick’ has an interesting sci-fi set up

NetflixWe’ve all been there – the relationship you’re in is not working out, and one of you wants out. It’s a transferable experience, regardless of whether you’ve been the dumper or dummy. For Tim (Matthias Schweighöfer), at the end of receiving an unexpected cut from his girlfriend Longtime Olivia (Ruby Fee O.). But as she packs her luggage and opened the front door to leave, something strange happens – she can’t. The open door has been blocked by a glossy black brick wall that was not previously evident. Tim and Olivia try to move it, then cut it, but nothing works – it won’t book or break down. It can take any damage that both can learn out.
No concerns, there are other ways to leave a flat, even if they are an inconvenient father. But to the horror of the disengaged couple, they find all the doors and windows leading to the outside world have also been “brick”. It’s not just their apartment that has been walled off – the whole building is surrounded by this brick wall that appeared overnight. How? And why?
Something strange happens outside – but what?

NetflixTim and Olivia are understandable freaked out, but they are not alone. By drilling through their walls and floors, the couple joins several other residents to find out what the hell is happening. One girl is wondering if he is an elaborate escape room they are stuck in while another neighbor discovers that they are secretly recorded by a camera that is operated by someone – or something – they don’t know.
It is here where the trailer teases us with a series of images that only make the film more mysterious – and impossible to resist. There is a short shot from the outside with a building on fire in the distance, and there is a sequence with Tim and Olivia where they realize that the wall is magnetized – and maybe even a sense? And there is an interesting possibility that the brick wall is not a threat – it protects all of them from whatever happens outside. But what kind of threat could it be to activate such an aggressive and elaborate defense system? And why did no one know about it in advance?

I’m a big fan of claustrophobic chargers, from 10 Cloverfield Lane to Apple TV+Excellent Sci-Fi series Afflict with Rebecca FergusonAnd this looks so tension and fun as those movies and TV shows.
There is something about action that pairs very well with the summer. And this weekend, Netflix is all about the action. But people can’t live on acting alone, and there seems to be a highly attractive crime documentary program to keep us busy on these long weekends. To prepare you for the next three days, (…)
Sci-fi concepts like BrickHe usually fails to adhere to landing as there is virtually no explanation for what happens satisfactorily as possible in your head. But i’m willing to give Brick the benefit of doubt; Maybe he can introduce the climax of a jaw leak that is worthy of such classics as The sixth sense with Bruce Willis or any of the The planet of the apes Movies.
