The Way Home Season 3 by Hallmark Channel: Everything to Know

Get ready to jump back in time when season 3 of The Way Home premieres on Hallmark Channel in the new year.

The network announced in March 2024 that the magical and mystical series would return for a third season – and this time around another decade will be explored. During season 1, fans met Kat (Chyler Leigh) and her daughter, Alice (Sadie Laflamme-Snow), when they moved in with Kat’s mother, Del Landry (Andie MacDowell), following Kat’s divorce.

Viewers quickly learned that the Landry girls have a seedy history with the town after Kat’s little brother, Jacob, went missing as a child. Delving deeper into their family’s past, Alice accidentally begins time travel – using a magical pool on their property – and befriends a younger version of Kat from 1999.

Season 2 added another time period when Kat traveled back to 1814. While there she discovered that her brother (a grown-up version of Jacob portrayed by Spencer Macpherson) was alive and living in that era.

As for season 3, Hallmark teased that the Landry girls would be thrown into the world of 1974, which is when Del met her now-late husband, Colton (Jefferson Brown).

Who’s Returning for Season 3?

MacDowell, Leigh and Laflamme-Snow all returns as the Landry girls. Macpherson will also be back as Kat’s long-lost brother Jacob, and Brown will continue to make flashback cameos as the late Colton Landry. Evan Williams reprises his role as Kat’s love interest, Elliot Augustine.

How Did Season 2 End?

After a complicated relationship with the year 1814 when Kat met her brother as an adult and helped save him from the Redcoats, she tried to convince him to jump into the pool and return to modern times. During the season 2 finale, which aired in March 2024, Kat cut ties with her revolutionary war interest Thomas Coyle (Kris Holden-Reid) and gave her romance with Elliot’s childhood best friend a second chance.

If that wasn’t enough drama, Jacob followed Kat back to the present, which came as a surprise to his sister. When the incident ended, the siblings were getting ready to see their mother and explained that they had been time traveling with the help of their family pool.

Another cliffhanger revealed that Colton is watching the Landry house in the present. That means he too has been time traveling since he died.

What Can Fans Expect From The Season 3 Premiere?

Hallmark announced that in November season 3 will be up with Kat and Jacob “about to walk into the Landry home of an unsuspecting Del.”

According to the press release, “Viewers will be introduced to a new era where Alice will visit. During her time there, she meets compelling characters whose stories add context to the history of the Landrys and provide answers to some questions… but open up new ones.”

Meanwhile, Kat “Tries to close the door on the 1800s after making startling discoveries.” In the present, she and Elliot “navigate a new chapter in their relationship, while he finds himself facing his own complicated past,” according to the synopsis.

Will Elliot and Kat stay together in season 3?

“Season 3 shows that there’s some growing that needs to happen for Kat and Elliot,” Williams said Television line in December 2024. “And I’m glad the writers don’t make it simple either. Like, it’s not a binary thing, and because of that, if they can find their way together, it’ll be a lot more rewarding.”

What Happens in ‘The Way Home’ Season 3 Trailer?

Hallmark released its first trailer in November 2024revealing that Alice and Kat will both travel back to 1974. According to the teaser, “the mystery deepens” as the girls watch Del and Colton’s love story unfold the summer they met .

In the second trailerreleased in December, Alice learns that “someone besides us is time traveling,” but doesn’t reveal who they are. At one point, Kat realizes that Alice “got sucked somewhere in time” before she shows up at a summer event where her grandparents are hanging out.

While Alice learns more about her grandparents, Del asks today that Kat “please stop running away and choose us.”

Meanwhile, Kat appears to be fully dating Elliot, according to the second trailer. “Talk about endings and new beginnings…” Elliot said as he danced with Kat.

Finally, the video shows confirmation that Jacob returns home to this day, but does not show if he sees his mother or if he stays long.

Season 3 of The Way Home premieres on Friday, January 3.

Where Can You Watch ‘The Way Home’ Season 3?

The new season initially aired exclusively on Hallmark’s streaming service, Hallmark+, but has since changed.

In December, the network announced that “due to overwhelming demand,” The Way Home airs Fridays at 9 pm ET on Hallmark Channel. New episodes will be available on Hallmark+ the next day.
