The story of Deku and friends may be over, but Bones isn’t My Hero Academia just yet During Jump Festa weekend, the animation studio revealed a nice surprise for fans of the superhero manga: its spin-off series, Vigilantes, will get its own anime in April.
If you haven’t read it, Vigilantes comes from Hideyuki Furuhashi and Betten Court, and also pulls double duty as a prequel set five years before Deku’s story. Its hero is one Koichi Haimawari, a university student with the power to travel on any flat surface. He doesn’t have a Hero license, but that hasn’t stopped him from saving people. Koichi finds his life changed when he and high school student Kazuho Haneyema are rescued by Knuckleduster, a vigilante who decides to take the pair under his wing. The manga ended in 2022, but it has built its own fanbase that likes it as much as the mothership series, and has hoped Vigilantes to take its own adaptation for a while.
With My hero final anime, it makes sense for Bones to keep Vigilantes so close to the chest so far. Its short teaser shows that the spirit of the original series is very much intact, and with a certain unique energy, as we see the three heroes not quite showing their powers. U world of My hero has always been one of his biggest draws, and this show offers a different point of view that his main series didn’t really provide. How do “unselected heroes” like Koichi, Kazuho and Knuckleduster fare in a society full of beloved protectors in the village? We’ll see when My Hero Academia: Vigilantes premiere in April 2025, while the final season of the main anime does not yet have a release window.
