“What you see here is an injury that means nothing to me because what’s inside my heart is broken,” said Johansen Canada’s World News. “Because my wife died behind me at the event.”

Johansen shared that every cuddle he received that night reminded him of his late wife.

“She never celebrated herself in her life. She never thought of herself, she thought of herself so small in terms of reach,” Johansen said of Darbellay. “And I can tell you that it is more than life for any of you who know her. So don’t be small in life, be big, go out and reach out like a human being with everything you have and remember us who went through this.”

And Gofundme was founded by a family friend Michael Diontfield Hall to Johansen and his family following the death of Darbellay.

“This is an incredibly difficult time for Noel, and moving on with its life is going to feel irresistible,” read the website description. “I know his work will undoubtedly be affected and I and his family would like to be supported during this time.”

The fundraiser seeks donations to assist the costs for Airfare for close family, food, childcare, counseling, funeral expenses and more.
