In the midst of the increasing tensions between India and Pakistan, Cricket has quietly entered the spotlight. The Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) has rejected the application of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to accommodate the rest of the Super League of Pakistan 2025 (PSL 2025) in the United Arab Emirates.
A report by Cricbuzz suggested that the decision of the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) occurred after an indirect push of Indian Cricket officials, leaving Jay Shah. With the lost life on the border, they feel that hosting a PSL 2025 to the United Arab Emirates would send the wrong message.
The ECB’s refusal is considered a direct response to the continuous war between India and Pakistan. The report indicated the growing influence of former BCCI former Secretary Jay Shah, who is currently chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC) and has links to the ECB.

Cricbuzz cited an official of Cricket: “When the soldiers die on the border, we cannot be silent.”
Relations between the BCCI and the ECB have been strong over the years, especially after India hosted half and a complete season of IPL, as well as the entire T20 World Cup in 2021 in the United Arab Emirates.
Interestingly, the ECB Secretary General, Mubashir Usmani, is originally from Mumbai, which is why his connection with India has always been kind.
A ECB official even admitted that his decision to reject Pakistan’s application to host PSL 2025 parties was influenced by his close links to BCCI and Jay Shah. An ECB official stated, “We owe it to the BCCI and Jay Bhai.”

Above all, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was planning to move the remaining eight games of the PSL 2025 to Dubai. In fact, the PCB even made a public announcement, confirming the league in the United Arab Emirates. But a few hours later, they had to take a full turn in U.
They had to postpone the PSL 2025. One of the main reasons for this sudden change was the reluctance of many foreign players to continue playing in the current situation. Initially, the ECB agreed to consider the PCB request, but things changed rapidly.
First, the ECB refused to allow the use of the Dubai International Cricket Stadium to the PCB, and then cited a very high accommodation share, which Pakistan with economic struggle could simply not be allowed. Finally, without a place and without players ready to play, the PCB had to call the games for the moment.
PCB President Mohsin Naqvi had previously stated: “I am sorry that our domestic audiences and cricket lovers will not be able to see these parties in Pakistan’s stadiums. But, as a responsible organization, it is our duty to prioritize the safety and mental well -being of players and staff.”
Pakistan could also postpone the next tour of Bangladesh, as they are scheduled to host five T20I games at the end of May 2025.
