Two of the five judges of the Supreme Court, instructed to determine the fate of the former President of Brazil, Jiro Bolsonar, found the former leader guilty of planning a coup.
But Bolsonar will be condemned only if at least another justice pleads guilty. The former president denied all charges against him.
Alyaksandr de Morazas, the first justice, stated that there was no doubt that a coup was attempted after Bolsonar lost the 2022 presidential election to his left competitor Louise Inazio Lule.
The second justice, Flavio Dynamo, also found Bolsonar guilty of all five charges against him. The court will continue on Wednesday.
When the session starts at 9:00 Local (12: 00GMT), all eyes will be on Louise Fuchs, whose turn will cast their voice.
If he also pleads guilty to Bolsonar on all charges, the simple majority needed for condemnation will be reached by the former president.
If he is found guilty, Balsanar – who has ruled Brazil from January 2019 to December 2022 – may face a long term of more than 40 years of imprisonment.
So far, the statements of the two judges who expressed their votes were damned for the former president.
Moraz’s justice stated that Balsanar was in charge of a “criminal organization”, which, he said, stood at the coup attempt.
Bolsonar’s lawyer, Sels Villardi, said he would not agree with the views of two judges, but stressed that “he would always respect the Supreme Court.”

The former president and his seven correlated lawsuits are some of which are the highest military officers who are accused of trying to prevent the elected President Lulu from his position.
Seven employees also denied allegations.
Speaking in court on Tuesday, Justice Moras said there was a lot of evidence of the plot to kill Lulu, his vice president who runs the partner, and Moraz’s justice.
Moraes showed a document in which it talks in detail about the plan, operations on the codes of green and yellow dagger, with key sections.
“It was written at the Brazilian Government headquarters at the same time when President Jir Balsanar,” he said. He added that part of the plan was printed in the Presidential Palace.
According to investigators, the defendants were unable to enroll sufficient support for the military to go forward.
But Morasa claimed that the defendants’ efforts ended with the assault on the Congress, the Supreme Court and the Presidential Palace of thousands of Bolsonar supporters on January 8, 2023 – a week after Loullah oath.
The Order was quickly restored and more than 1500 people were arrested.
But, according to Moras, Brazil approached the transition to authoritarianism: “We slowly forget that Brazil has almost returned to its 20-year dictatorship because the criminal organization consisting of a political group does not know how to lose the elections.”
“Undoubtedly, the defendant, Jiri Bolsonar, held meetings with the commanders of the armed forces to discuss violations of the constitutional norms,” Moras said.
The ex-president was not in court when Moraz’s judges and Dynamo announced their guilty votes.
Bolsonar’s lawyers said their client suffers from health problems. The 70-year-old guy was stabbed in the stomach, being on the campaign trail in 2018 and has periodic health problems that result from the incident.
His lawyers said he was following the case from his house in Brazil, where he was being held under house arrest.
Since he is now forbidden to use social media, we have not heard from him during the sentence of this trial, but in the past he stated that the trial was politically motivated.
The former president claims that he is called to prevent him from standing in the 2026 presidential election.
However, he is already forbidden to run for public positions by 2030 for the spread of unjustified rumors about the Brazilian voting system.
