It looks like it could be ripped right out of the video game, but it’s actually adapted from “In the Lost Lands,” a short story about the Game of Thrones creator who appeared in the 1982 fantasy anthology Amazons IIedited by Jessica Amanda Salmonson.

Here’s the film’s official logline: “Directed by Paul WS Anderson and based on the short story by George RR Martin, a queen sends the powerful and feared sorceress Gray Alys (Milla Jovovich) into the ghostly wasteland of the Lost Lands in search of of a magical power, where the witch and her guide, the vagabond Boyce (Dave Bautista), must surpass and defeat the man and the demon.

Martin, who sometimes uses his personal blog as a place to vent opinions on the adaptation of their workhad no comment to share today other than some thumbs up clip art it accompanies the poster and trailer, and a brief encouragement (“Seek the power. Free the people”) to go see the film when it opens on March 7.
