The retirement of Kohli of the test cricket has evoked an emotional outlet of the Fraternity of Cricket, with taxes that come from legends and contemporaries. Among the most sincere was the former coach of India and Mentor Ravi Shastri, who greeted Kohli as the “most influential cricket of the last decade” and a “current giant.”
Speaking Cricbuzz On Monday, a few hours after Kohli’s retirement announcement, Shastri reflected on his remarkable trip together. “It belonged to a different class of cricketers,” Shastri said. “It has been the most influential cricketter of the last decade, not only in India, but throughout the world of cricket.”
The collaboration of Shastri and Kohli is considered widely one of the most successful captain captain alliances in the history of the Indian Cricket. Its association began in 2014 when Kohli took over the series test captaincy in Australia and continued through two different phases, from 2014 to 2016, and after 2017 until the departure of Shastri in 2021.
“There are many unforgettable memories, some immensely personal. He interpreted a brand of cricket associated with any other Indian captain. As I wrote in my post, he is really a current giant,” added Shastri.

In a proper tribute, Shastri summarized it strongly: “He is one that belongs to all classes of great cricketers. Period.”
