Actress and model Dale Haddon has died and another person was hospitalized after a carbon monoxide leak in a home in Pennsylvania, authorities said.
In the 1970s, Haddon modeled for brands including Estée Lauder and L’Oreal and appeared on the front page of magazines including Sports Illustrated and Vogue Paris.
Police said they received a call at 6:31 a.m. local time (1:31 a.m. GMT) on Friday that a 76-year-old man was passed out on the first floor of a self-contained detached building at a home in Bucks County.
A 76-year-old woman, later identified as Haddon, was found dead in a second-floor bedroom.
The man, who police described in critical condition at a New Jersey hospital, has been identified as Walter J. Blucas, whose son is married to Haddon’s daughter.
Records show the home is owned by Haddon’s daughter, former journalist Ryan Haddon, and her husband, actor Mark Blucas, according to the BBC’s US partner, CBS News.
A preliminary investigation indicated that the cause of the leak was a faulty exhaust pipe in the building’s heating system, police said.
They added that the high level of carbon monoxide in the property affected the emergency services, with two paramedics being hospitalized with carbon monoxide exposure and a police officer being treated at the scene.
Dale Haddon was born and raised in Quebec, Canada and began her career as a ballerina.
She moved to the US to pursue a modeling career and later worked in film, appearing in films including The World’s Greatest Athlete, released in 1973, and Dallas Forty North, released in 1973. in 1979.
Paying tribute to his mother Ryan Haddon wrote on Instagram that Dale had a “pure heart” and a “life well lived.”
“She was a woman in her own power, but gentle and considerate to everyone. Deeply creative and curious, gifted with beauty inside and out. Always kind and considerate,” she said.
“She was a high-spirited spiritual being who placed importance on her soul’s evolution, so I know her journey here to this dimension must be complete.”
