Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer said military planning defends the potential ceasefire of Ukraine to move on to the “prompt phase” after a virtual meeting with 29 other world leaders.
Sir Keir, who will gather on Thursday in the UK “to create strong and reliable plans to launch a peaceful deal and guarantee Ukraine’s future security.”
The meeting shows that Ukraine agrees to the 30-day ceasefire after negotiations with the United States. Russian President Vladimir Putin said he agreed with this idea, but set a number of preconditions for peace.
The President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky, who came on Saturday, said that “active pressure was required, not just talk.”
“The world must understand that Russia is the only obstacle that prevents peace,” he said.
“The path to peace should start unconditionally. If Russia does not want it, then strong pressure should be exerted until they are. Moscow understands one language,” Zelensky added.
He urged European countries to produce his own weapons as soon as possible and talk to the US and his president Donald Trump to reach a transaction through “full sanctions, strong pressure and force Russia to conclude peace.”
In a speech after the video call, Sir Kire said, “The world needs actions … not empty words and conditions.”
In his statement, he states that “overcoming and delayed the Kremlin” over the ceasefire and its permanent attacks on Ukraine “completely withstand the stated aspirations of President Putin.”
On Saturday, the leaders agreed that when Putin had abandoned the “immediate and unconditional ceasefire”, they would need to “strengthen the pressure … to convince him to come to the table,” said Sir Keir.
“In order to deliver this, we will accelerate our military support, strengthened our sanctions on Russia’s income and continue to study all the legitimate routes to ensure that Russia pays for the damage it has done,” the statement said.
Putin said he supported the idea of ceasefire on Thursday, but added “there are nuances” and asked the list of details, including whether Ukraine would overcome Ukraine and who by the police.
The participants of the call on Saturday included NATO, the European Union, almost two dozen European countries, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
Sir Keir will meet with the chiefs of the military chiefs to move forward over the “practical plans” on how their militants can support Ukraine.
“We will create our own defense and the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and will be ready to deploy as a” coalition of the willing “in the case of a peaceful transaction to help provide Ukraine on earth, at sea and in the sky,” his statement said.
Sir Keir presented the idea of a “coalition coalition” to defend the ceasefire earlier this month, and said on Saturday that the coalition grew and included support from Japan and others.
Earlier, the Prime Minister said that “ready and ready” to put the military in the UK in Ukraine to help guarantee its security within the peace deal. He urged other European countries to commit a specific security guarantee and stated that the US was needed.
At the press conference after the Zelensky summit, he stated that the ceasefire mode had a need for some form of “bots on earth”, although he admitted that some were “skeptical”.
President Finlanka Alexander Stubb told BBC on Sunday with Laura Kuensberg after the summit that it was “too early” to talk about putting troops on land as part of any security guarantee.
Stubb said that Finland was ready to become part of the peace deal’s defense, but said: “It is too early to talk about the boots on earth, because we have no ceasefire, we have no peace process. After we have a clear plan, we start fulfilling the commitments.”
He said that “where they are from zero to 50 different ways they can help, Earth boots are just one way.”
Thousands have been killed since Russia launched a full -scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
