The ICC Champions Campaign in England 2025 ended with a complete humiliation, as they crashed out of the tournament without a single victory. The disastrous performance of England has stopped fans and experts, but criticism is not just their struggles in the field; Questions are being asked about the mentality, attitude and approach of the team.
After their departure, the English media struck the attitude of the players, claiming that there is a deeper cultural problem within the team. Lack of urgency, apathetic body language and unclear explanations after the game have only fueled the frustration between fans and former cricketers.
The players in England seemed to make excuses about difficult questions instead of recognizing their failures and showing accountability. Now, reacting to these statements, the CEO of England, Rob keyHe defended the national team as he admitted that his statements have not been good.

Sky Sports said that Rob Key said, “I have no problem in the way our boys do things. But there is no doubt that we have to improve when we do interviews; when players do their post-Party press conferences, we talk a lot of garbage many times.”
Key admitted that English players have often failed to communicate effectively, which caused unnecessary controversy. He added: “They are trying a lot for not a kind of annoying players in the locker room, they do not try to give something they do not think they should do, and then they end up creating headlines through that. But I don’t kill people for the things they say.”
Last month, Well duckett stated that England did not mind the result of hatred series Against India, they ended up losing all three games, followed by a shameful campaign without winning the ICC Champions Troophy 2025.
However, the director of the team dismissed the claims that the players had no commitment or hunger for victory. The former English cricket has insisted that the team works hard and that the arrogance is not the reason for their struggles in the field.
Key further explained: “There is no world where we think players do not care, they do not want to go to get great scores, they do not mind winning, they are arrogant. This is not absolutely true. Half of the time they get in trouble, it is because they are really trying to concentrate -so loud that they end up making mistakes.”
In the meantime, English players have often faced criticism of their activities outside the field during visits abroad, as according to reports that spend more time on the golf course than in training. However, the team director has dismissed these concerns, saying that they are fully committed to their game.
Key signed himself saying, “Much is done in the way they do things and the way they spend their time when they are not playing, with which I have no problem. When I saw the team in Pakistan, they practiced harshly. They were stuck; it wasn’t that they did not practice, so we didn’t act.”
