The former five-divisions world champion, Sugar Ray Leonard, showed his fast hand speed, which still made some hand in a Mitt training. In a video clip, the “69-year-old Sugar Ray worked on what seems to be on the balcony of his beautiful mega-milion mansion in the Pacific, California riches.
The 1976 Olympic Gold Medal Leonard (36-3-1, 25 kos) does not seem to have lost much of its speed since it was removed in 1982 due to an eye injury. In fact, even for a fighter at the age of 20, it would be impressive to have the speed that Sugar Ray exposed to the video this week. It is rare to see a Leonard’s age fighter still has a hand speed and looks athletic as he does.
Leonard is considered the Golden Standard for which Welters weights must aspire to. None have yet coincided with the combination of speed, power and capacity that had the ray of sugar. Although some have appeared since they retired, fighters like Floyd Mayweather Jr., Terence Crawford and Jaron ‘Boots’ have not had the overall talent that Leonard had.

If the sugar Ray had struggled during this time, the amount of money he would have earned and his success is unreal. It would have been interesting to see what could have been fought against the tastes of Canelo Alvarez, Gennadiy Golovkin, Crawford, Boots Ennis and Dmitry Bivol.
When Leonard struggled, boxing was still shown on the large network television stations such as ABC, CBS and NBC. Near the end of Sugar Ray’s career, his main fights were displayed on the Premier, HBO and Showtime cable platforms. Leonard’s resale against Tommy Hearns in 1989 was displayed on HBO PPV.
