Spoilers for US Season 2. Another week, another heartbreak as a second chapter The last ous Season 2 killed off Joel Miller (Pedro Pascal).
He opened the latest installment of the show – which performed for the first time on Sunday, April 20 – with Abby (Kaitlyn Dever) Dreaming of the result of Joel Hospital’s massacre from the end of season 1.
After waking up from her dream, it is revealed that Abby and her crew officially reached Jackson’s outskirts, Wyoming as their hunt for Joel continuing. However, Owen (Spencer Lord) states that they have no idea where Joel is actually, before asking for time to draw up a plan that helps them seek revenge.
The plan? Owen wants to “convince” Abby to turn back because “we are the only people killed out here.”
In the meantime, in Jackson, Ellie (Bella Ramsey) deals with the result of what went down on New Year’s Eve – specifically her kiss with Dina (Isabela Merced) and fight with Joel.
“My S *** with Joel is complicated. I know he probably looks very bad from the outside,” Ellie admits. “It’s been very bad. But I’m still I’m still Joel and we … Nothing has ever changed that.”
While Ellie is out on patrol with Jesse (Mazino Young), she finds that Gail’s (Catherine O’Hara) The late husband, Eugene, was fire insects. (Premiere revealed the show that Joel killed Eugene, but is not yet to be revealed why.)
Elsewhere in the episode, Abby – as part of her excessive need to avenge – wakes a whole hoard of infected infected. She has been rescued by none other than Joel, who was on patrol with Dina. Abby convinces the duo to go back to the lodge, where her crew stays, to escape the infected.
As the infected continues their rampage throughout the Wyoming desert, they break the perimeter of Jackson who sends Tommy (Gabriel Luna) and the people of the town on a slaughter spree.
Joel and Dina arrive at the lodge where things start to go south. Manny (Danny Ramirez) pulls out a gun and holds it to the end of Dina like honey (Ariela bars) after that calms her. Abby gives Joel a “one chance” to “tell the truth.” She then asks him to reveal the “last place” that saw the fire extinguishments.
“Salt Lake,” he replies. Abby praises his honesty before shooting him in his leg. She then reveals that the doctor who killed Joel during the hospital massacre was her father – which explains her need for revenge.
“But I’m going to kill you,” she promises. “There are some things that everyone agrees alone is wrong.”
Joel’s screams can be heard as Abby begins to beat him with a golf club, and then his fists.
By some miracle, Ellie eventually finds the lodge, walking in on Abby beating Joel.
“Joel rises,” she screams after being arrested, but Abby stabs him in his neck – killing him.
“I’m gonna kill you,” Ellie is screaming. “You all go if *** ing dead.”
