Los -Angeles police say they have made “mass arrests” after the fifth day of protests on US President Donald Trump’s immigration raids.
Mayor Karen Bass announced a curfew during a relatively small city in the city, saying that the enterprises were being held and looted.
Elsewhere, the immigration raids that triggered the protests last Friday continued, and the deployed troops of the National Guard, which are now defending border law enforcement agents.
The Trump’s line with government officials intensified after he opened troops in the Los Eandgeles. The president has now promised to “release” the city, but the Governor of California has accused the “attack” on democracy.
On Tuesday, Trump defended his decision to send 4,000 troops of the National Guard and 700 Marines, saying it should prevent “conquering a foreign enemy”.
These troops lack the powers for arrest, and instead the task was only to protect the federal property and personnel.
Newsom abandoned the president: “He chose the escalation again; he chose more strength.” The California governor, who is regarded as a potential presidential contender for the Democratic Party, warned that “other states is as follows.”
After Tuesday at 8:00 pm on Tuesday (3:00 GMT on Wednesday), the police moved in the city center, shooting the rubber bullets to try the dissolution of the crowd.
Later, the Los -Angeles Police Department (LAPD) said that “several groups” are still going to the county.
In the evening updating, the officers did not confirm how many people were detained. Earlier, the mayor said that nearly 200 people were arrested on Tuesday, except dozens of other days.
Explaining the curfew, the bass said he wanted to “stop vandalism to stop robbery.” She added: “We have reached the turning point.”
The order affects the area near one square miles in the second largest city in America.
Chaotic protests arose on Tuesday in several other US cities:
Mayor Los Angeles said 23 companies were plundered on Monday night, although it did not evaluate the financial loss of the city from a bewildered disorder.
Elsewhere, which was distributed, it was a regular Tuesday when tens of thousands of children went to school, the passenger movement gasped through the streets, and tourists strolled in Hollywood Boulevard.
La Police Chief Jim McDonnel said the curfew “did not silence the vote,” but was a necessary measure to save life and preserve property.
The bass also said immigration and customs execution (ICE) caused unrest by raids in Latin American areas in the city in recent days.
“If (the raids will) go for 30 days, and here’s what goes for rumors, and if we want to see our city peacefully again, I urge the administration again to complete the raids,” she said.
On Tuesday, the National Guard troops, which previously guarded the federal buildings, began assisting ICE agents in their “daily bodies,” the BBC border agency said.
On Tuesday, the Marines guarded federal officials and property, said Marine Corps General Eric Smith. They have no detention powers.
A military deployment in the Los -Angeles area will cost $ 134 million (99 million pounds), the Pentagon said.
Addressing the troops in Fort Brest in North Carolina, Trump called protests as a “full-scale attack on peace and public order.”
The Republican president said he plans to use “every asset at our disposal to stop violence.”
Meanwhile, Trump’s political line with government officials has intensified. The President described the participants of the rally as “animals” and promised that “this anarchy would not stand.”
During his speech at the Fort -Bregga military base, he called on troops to take the names of Newsom and Joe Biden, his predecessor of the president.
In Tuesday’s television statements on Tuesday, California Governor Gavin Newsom has reiterated the rare deployment of US Presidential troops without requesting government officials. He accused Trump of “brazen abuse of power.”
“California may be the first – but it will not be over here,” he said. “Next and other states. Democracy is as follows. Democracy is attacked in front of our eyes.”
Earlier that day, the federal court denied an emergency request from California to block the use of troops sent to Los -Angeles.
District Judge Charles Brayer planned a hearing on Thursday’s petition.
Trump set a goal for border agents at least 3,000 daily arrests when he seeks to increase mass deportations by signing the key to his re -elected company.
Based on the post, the president dramatically reduced illegal intersections at the US border and Mexico to a historically low level.
The CBS News/YouGOV poll conducted in early June, before the protests began, found that 54% of Americans said they approved Trump’s deportation policy and 50% approved how he was engaged in immigration.
This is compared to less than 42% that gave their economic policy approval and 39% for their inflation.
