South India in Kerala defended its decision to submit ZUBU classes in public schools after moving caused protests from religious groups earlier this week.
About 14,000 state schools in Kerala were asked to organize daily Zumba sessions as part of a drug fight launched last month.
This decision opposed some Hindu and Muslim organizations in the state, which say that dance is a form of “cultural invasion”.
They urge parents and teachers to boycott the program, saying that this is contrary to their religious beliefs and moral values. While the protests have fallen, the groups continue to oppose politics.
The Kerala government, however, said he would not cancel the program, adding that “religion cannot be mixed with education.”
“Those who protest are more dangerous than any problem with drugs,” the BBC said the state.
Sivankutty added that although the schools were invited to put ZUBU into the curriculum, the classes will still be optional for students.
“This is not the way we make anyone – you can always give up if you want,” he said.
For the first time, protests began when the Kerala government introduced many measures to stand up to grow drugs last month.
These include expanded campus observation, new information companies and rehabilitation programs for students, as well as ZUBA lessons.
According to the recommendations, all public schools were proposed to hire the prepared ZUBU instructors to hold daily classes for students.
According to them, the curriculum and its schedule should be designed, given the convenience of both students and teachers.
This step was expressed by the loud Kerala Jamiotul Ulem, an influential organization of Muslim clerics in the state that rules hundreds of religious schools.
The press -secretary of the group Nasar Faizi Kudatta told the BBC that boys and girls dancing together, in what he called “vulgar” clothing was unacceptable.
“Zumba contradicts Indian moral value because it requires students to wear tight clothes and dance closely. It should not be taken,” he said.
Bharatiya Vichara Kendram, right organization that describes itself as a group “Hindu intellectuals “repeated this opinion.
In a statement earlier this week, the Director of the RU Sanjyan organization called ZUB “foreign” imports and stated that the student in the name of the drug fight was “harmful”.
“For the promotion of foreign cultural exporters, such as Zumba, there are motives as a zumba that did not make efforts to enrich or protect our traditions,” he said, adding that parents and students should oppose this rule because it is “against the uniqueness of the country.”
The government dismissed all the allegations.
“The idea is to encourage students to start a new fitness -travel for a healthier lifestyle – and nothing else,” Sivankuti said.
In addition, the governing principles make it clear that students will have to wear school uniforms during classes, leaving the opportunity to “inappropriately,” he said.
“Light exercises are always recommended in schools, and children always wear a form for these classes.”
The only purpose of the government, he added is to encourage healthy habits in children.
“Participation in sports contributes to mental and physical life force, health and positive thinking in children, which can increase their success and personal development.”
