According to the regional governor, at least 12 people were killed in air strikes in the Lebanese Eastern Valley of Bekaa.
Seven Syrians, including a five-year-old family and three Lebanese, were killed when the Vadi Pharara region was killed, Baalbek-Germel Governor Bachir Khodr wrote on X. The rest of the two deaths were registered in a shmus.
The Israeli military said they had impressed a number of military units belonging to the Hezbollah armed group, including training camps related to Radun’s elite forces.
These were the most deadly strikes, as the ceasefire ended with the Year of the fighting between Israel and Hezbollah, including the two months of the war that left the group of strongly weakened.
Hezbollah has not yet commented on the attacks, although his Al-Manar’s TV channel stated that they were violations of both ceasefire and Lebanon’s sovereignty.
Arabic Defense Forces spokesman (IDF), Lieutenant Col Avichay Adrae, said on X that the strikes on Tuesday had hit several goals.
“In the framework of the strikes, military units belonging to Radun’s forces were directed, where terrorist operatives and warehouses used to store combat equipment used Hezbollah were identified,” said Adri.
Radun’s force is the elite unit “Elsbol”.
In a separate English statement IDF said that in September 2024 he killed Radwan’s commanders – when he started an intensive air campaign against Hezbollah and invaded South Lebanon – and since then the unit “acted to restore its capabilities.”
IDF claimed that the storage of weapons and military activities of Hezbolla in the Bekaa Valley was “a brazen violation of Israel and Lebanon’s understanding and pose a future threat to Israel.”
Israeli’s Defense Minister Israel Katz said the strikes had sent a “clear message” of Hezbolla and Lebanese government, emphasizing that Israel was ready to “respond with the maximum force of any attempt to restore the” military capabilities “of Hezbollah.
The basis for the ceasefire agreement between the Israeli and Lebanese governments, which were predicted by US mediators in November, was the complete implementation of the UN Security Council resolution 1701, which ended the last war in 2006.
Hezbollah had to withdraw his strength to positions north of the Litani River – approximately 30 km (20 miles) from the Israeli border – leaving only the Lebanese army and peacekeepers of the United Nations, which are authorized to work with weapons in the area.
Israel was obliged to fully pull out its forces out of Lebanon, but he retained a military presence in five sections in the south, which he considered strategically important.
The agreement also noted that the resolution confirmed the preliminary security council, which requires “disarmament of all armed groups” in Lebanon.
