The emergency announced in Myanmar after a huge earthquake

According to the US Geological Service (USGS).

The epicenter was 16 km (10 miles) northwest of the city of Sagaing, at a depth of 10 km, sending strong jolts that were felt to southwestern China and Thailand.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister Thailand, at least 81 burst disappeared after an unfinished multi-storey building.

Mandala rescuer, the second largest city of Myanmar, told the BBC that the damage is “huge”, and the number of victims is “at least in hundreds”.

There were reports of roads that bend in the Naipid capital, and the country’s military government declared a state of emergency in six regions.

The earthquake struck near Mandala, which has about 1.5 million people.

The second earthquake hit 12 minutes after the first, according to USGS, 6.4 scale, and its epicenter was 18 km (11.1 miles) south of Sagain.

The Lion, in the largest city of Myanmar, Yangon, said he was feeling the first earthquake for a long time and added that residents were worried about the potential for greater jolts.

BBC journalist, who lives in Bangkok, told the Newsday BBC World Service that she was home when the original earthquake happened.

“I was very nervous, I was very panic,” she said.

“Bangkok buildings are not designed for earthquakes, so I think so I think there will be a lot of damage.”

Myanmar has been in political shock since the military junta seized power in the 2021 coup.

The state controls virtually all local radio, television, printed and Internet use and Internet use in the country is limited, which often makes it difficult to access information.
