On Wednesday, 12 jury in New York discovered a disgraced movie “Marthered Harvey Weinstein”, guilty of a sexual assault on Miriam Haley in 2006, after his convicted sexual crimes in the state was abolished last year.

When Miriam Haley heard the news last year that the New York court threw a conviction with rape against Harvey Weinstein, a man she helped put behind bars four years before, was shocked.

In 2020, Mrs. Haley told Manhattan in the courtroom every detail of the time when Weinstein sexually attacks her in her apartment in New York in 2006.

This time she planned to give up the prosecutors, not wanting to survive all this again. But a few weeks before the re -analysis, she saw a link to a new series of podcas aimed at “extraordinary” Weinstein.

“I just thought I had to defend myself. I have to uphold the truth,” Mr. BBC said.

She was one of three women who testified against Weinstein during his six -week re – Hollywood tycoon for sexual abuse of young women.

The jury found Weinstein guilty of a sexual attack on Mrs. Haley. They did not find him guilty, related to the second woman and still discuss the accusations of the third woman.

The verdict “gives me hope – hope that there is a new awareness of sexual abuse and that the myth of the perfect sacrifice is fading,” said Ms Hayley near the Manhattan court building on Wednesday.

The Court of Appeal canceled the preliminary conviction of Weinstein for their sexual crimes in New York last April. The judges considered that the original trial of Weinstein was not fair because it included the testimony of women who were charged outside Official charges against him.

In September, a 73-year-old boy was charged with a sexual attack on a new lawsuit.

He pleaded not guilty and brutally denied the allegations. His lawyers claimed that his charges were “friends with preferences” who had consensus with him in exchange for working opportunities.

These portraits were offensive, said Ms Heyley, adding that the constant denial of Weinstein in the accusations pushed her to “continue to appear” in court.

For this trial, Mrs. Hale spent four days at the booth – three more than she did for the first time.

In this trial, she could look at her striker who was sitting in a wheelchair near the defense table, unlike the first trial when he was blocked by the judge’s booth.

After entering, she was worried, as in the previous trial, how she would feel.

“Would I feel intimidated? Can I even regret it?” she said. “And when I saw it, it was nothing.”

Watching Weinstein, Mrs. Hale told the court about her first meeting in France in 2006. She said she went to the hotel, thinking they would discuss work opportunities, but Weinstein asked her to massage him. She refused and left in tears.

They remained in touch, and later Weinstein helped Ms Hayle find a job as an assistant to the TV project running strip.

Then, one day, she accepted the invitation to her apartment in New York, she said, because she had just asked her to visit the film premiere at the Los Endeles.

On the evening of July 10, 2006, the magnate film “rushed” at her from the sofa and kissed her. He pushed her into the bedroom, where he forcibly performed oral sex on it, Mrs. Hale testified.

“I couldn’t get away from his capture,” she said in court. “I realized that I was raped, that’s what it is.”

Mrs. Haley told about these intimate details in the room full of strangers, was “grunting”.

“It’s just so invasive,” she said.

After direct interrogation, Mrs. Haley faced the crossed interrogation of Prosecutor Weinstein Jennifer Bonjan, who is known for his fighting and defended other major Hollywood figures accused of sexual attacks, including Bill Cosby and Play.

When Mrs. Bonjan, who removed his clothes on that July, Ms Haley replied through tears.

“He removed my clothes … I didn’t remove my clothes,” she said. “He was the one who raped me, not the other way around.”

“It is for the jury to decide,” said Ms. Bonjan.

The comment was disrespectful, said Mrs. Hale, who added that she could “feel my eyes rising, and all, just because it was so deeply offensive.”

“Regardless of the sentence, from my point of view, it was still happening,” she said. “I’m still the one who should live with him.”

Ms Haley watched at the booth actress Jessica Mann, who participated in the first trial of Weinstein in New York, and the former Kaj Sokol model, who for the first time testified, accusing Weinstein of sexual attack when she was 19.

The juror has admitted that Weinstein was not guilty of attacking Mrs. Sokol, and he still reflects on whether he raped Mrs. Mann.

Weinstein still has to serve a separate 16-year term for sex crimes in California, which means that he was already expected to spend the rest of his life in prison, regardless of the trial.

In total, he was accused of violating sexual acts, attacks and rapes of more than 100 women.

Like many victims of sexual attack, Ms Heyly has not publicly performed for abuse for years.

She said she had accepted a strategy from her difficult childhood – the one that included abuse – where she provided traumatic memories and continued her life as usual.

However, the attack had emotional consequences.

“I lost confidence in many things,” said Ms Heyley. “All I could see on the surface is all these people who were worried about it. It was extremely humiliating and embarrassing.”

Mrs. Haley eventually decided to speak after other women accused Weinstein of attacking, helping to arrange #metoo movement.

She was threatened with death – but also dozens of messages from women who said she motivated them to talk about her own abuse.

“It has this pulsation effect,” she said.

Ultimately, the verdict was a testimony to the “solid and true change” around the sexual attack, said Ms Heyle, calling the condemnation “release”.

Now a freelance producer, who spends time in Mexico, Mrs. Hale believes that the end of the re -examination will close the painful chapter, and she, in her opinion, was already sealed with the first conviction of Weinstein.

“Even I show this time, it feels like a small victory,” she said. “I definitely didn’t do it for myself. I did it for the truth for other women.”
