The Association, which held the White House correspondents, abolished its capacity performance of the comedy for this year after tension with the Trump administration.
Amber Rufin’s comedy was supposed to perform at the annual dinner next month, but the White House correspondents announced on Saturday that it came out of its appearance.
In a note with members, the Association stated that “the focus of events is not on the politics of the division”, rather, to honor the work of the White House journalists.
This step comes after the White House attacked the Rufin’s choice as a headliner of US President Donald Trump’s criticism.
Taylor Budovich, Deputy Chief of Staff of the White House, responded to the decision of the Association for Rufin’s speech, saying it was a “police officer”.
“No account with WHCA, just a police statement – pathetic!” He wrote Budavich on Saturday in a message on X.
He continued to criticize Rufin, Amy and Tony, nominated by comedian and writers as “filled with hatred.”
The WHCA President Eugene Daniels announced Rufin as a headliner last month, saying she was chosen because her “unique talents are perfect for this current political and cultural climate.”
Rufin, a writer of Late Night NBC with Set Meyers, mocked Trump’s administration in recent weeks in his shows, including his order to rename the Gulf of Mexico to America.
In recent weeks, WHCA disagrees with the Trump administration.
Among other issues, there was a decision to ban the Association Press from covering certain events, and the White House decision directly control the press pool – a group of journalists covering the White House and traveling with the US president.
It is unclear whether Trump will visit the correspondents this year. Invited entertainers for past dinner – John Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Conan O’Brien, Jay Leno and others.
