In Western Kenya, a bus was carrying mourning from the funeral crashed, killed by 25 people, local authorities say.
The driver lost control, left the road and overturned the ditch on Kisumo Camega highway on Friday afternoon, according to a police report. This area is famous for many deadly accidents.
Police said 10 women, 10 men and one girl were killed at the scene, and 20 passengers were injured, five of them seriously. Later, four people were killed in the hospital, officials said.
Passengers returned from the funeral and believed to be all one family.
The reason for the disaster is not yet clear, police said.
The car was a high school bus, but there were no students on board because it was used for funeral transport.
The bus was coming from the burial ceremony in Nahara and was driving in a distance of about 62 km (38.5 miles).
The Kenya Ministry of Health has called on “urgent blood” to help the survivors and expanded their “condolences to the dead”.
He also urged motorists to be cautious, especially since the country is engaged in numerous deadly roads.
Kenya’s President William Ruto urged the X to quickly boil “those responsible for any projects of negligence leading to the accident and resolve all traffic violations to ensure traffic safety across the country.”
Kenya’s national transport and security body said an investigation into the cause of the disaster would help.
This disaster occurs after Six people died earlier this week when Nairobi crashed a light aircraft belonging to medical virtue.
On Thursday, nine people were killed when the bus collided with a train in the most important thing, local media reported. And on Saturday, seven people were killed in another catastrophe near Nairobi, media reports reported.
Between 2020 and 2021, the Kenyan road death increased by more than 20%. In 2021, more than 4,500 people were killed and more than 16,000 were injured.
