Star Wars fans consistently argue what types of shows Disney should create … as, given how bad the sequel trilogy sucked, exactly what kind of series would it take to bring the old magic back? As it happens, the old magic lay in the golden age of franchise books, comics, and games that came out in the ’90s. What Disney needs to do is create an expanded Star Wars universe show, but this will never happen because its right existence would be confusing for more casual fans.
Decades ago, Timothy Zahn’s Timothy Trilogy started a series of interlinked stories of Bell, far away galaxy… the literary equivalent of Marvel’s cinematic universe. Unfortunately, Disney All these stories were unplugged when they purchased the franchise, which is why they are now published under the imprint of the legends. But if the Mouse House wants to bring that franchise back from death like Ghost Force, they must create an expanded Star Wars universe show that focuses on what happened to our favorite heroes and villains after Return the Jedi.
The Star Wars sequences had already covered this land, which is why Disney will never produce an extended universe show based on those earlier stories. Such a show would provide a completely different continuity for the studio’s biggest IP and confuse fans who (like an average Marvel fan) would care about what they do quickly and do not need to watch it to understand the latest Star Wars movie. That is unfortunate, though, because such a show may be the only thing that can bring each other intact generation of angry fans for several different reasons.
First, the expanded Star Wars universe show would provide a kind of alternative end to what we saw in the sequences … in the books, Luke Skywalker Master of successful Jedi instead of Meudwy’s failure, and Han is a happy married hero rather than a dead father, divorced. That alone would please the EU’s classic Star Wars book fans as well as those who hated how the sequences made our characters dirty. In that regard, this show could effectively fulfill the story line of the sequence that most of us were hop to see on screen after reading the books.
Secondly, the expanded Star Wars Non-Canonian universe show would give Disney the perfect opportunity to bring back a favorite fan characters without worrying about what that would do to the Canon narrative. Fans loved a return Grand AdmiralBut such a TV show could also give us portraits on the screen of fan favorites like Mara Jade and Corran Horn. Also, we could see the types of stories that will never appear on the big screen, like Luke Skywalker getting married and having a child.
Finally, this Expanded Star Wars universe show would have to be animated, and that provides a perfect excuse to bring familiar actors as Mark Hamill back to voice their iconic characters. The best of both worlds would be, allowing Disney to give us fresh stories Luke Skywalker without having to worry about bringing the character back to life or animating him with some CGI di -nine. Also, let’s be honest … after the sequence trilogy, we could all use a palate cleaner when it comes to the portrait on the screen of Lukeskywalker.
While such an expanded Star Wars universe show could merge hard core fans, Disney will never create it because having two different continues would be confusing for casual viewers. That’s a shame, though, because this might be the animated franchise Renaissance we’ve been waiting for. And he would let the fans and Disney take Kylo Ren’s advice in terms of the latest history of this franchise: let the past die … and kill it if you have to.
