Francis’s friend Ron Roberts confirm her death on Thursday, July 17, two weeks after she was in hospital because of “extreme pain.”
“With a heavy heart and extreme sadness I inform you of passing my dear friend Connie Francis last night,” wrote Roberts, President of Francis Label, Concetta Records, via Facebook. “I know Connie would endorse that her fans are among the first to learn about these sad news. The statement was also shared on Francis’ official Facebook profile.
Earlier this month, Francis confirmed that she was “feeling much better” after news broke his hospital. In a separate Facebook post, Francis detailed how she was “back in hospital” and “gets tests and checks to decide” because of the “extreme pain I’ve been experiencing.”
Francis’s music recently resurrected after her song 1962 “Pretty Little Baby” became a prone sound on Tiktok. Originally, he rose to fame in the ’50s and early 1960s with “Who’s sorry now?,” “My heart has its own mind,” “where the boys” and “don’t break the heart that loves you.”
The singer, who signed a recording contract in 1955, came the first woman to hit number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with “someone’s fool.”
