The Alum Madison Bachelor in Madison reflects on sexuality and marriage

‘A Life of Conduct’

On an episode of her “Stay True” podcast in June 2025, Madi revealed how he tackled morality porn and masturbate during the middle and secondary school.

“Thankfully, by the grace of God and by the power of a godly community and people around me, I’ve been free of porn and masturbation – I don’t even know – 10 years,” he said. “But that was something that did me and identified me for so long.

Madi looked back on being influenced by music and television shows for “having sex and grabbing up” for the first time as a 13 year old.

“I had already had moments of being curious about things and having some feelings or wondering some things or fantasion about some things. I hadn’t told anyone,” he said. “I hadn’t pursued doing anything about that, but I was curious, and I was about 13.

Madi remembered “feeling things I had never felt before,” especially the feeling of “desire.” From there, Madi said she started looking for porn, and yet she rationalized her for herself because she didn’t really have “having sex with (she) love.”

“That’s where I fell. I struggled and thought that lie. That lie led to a life of captivity,” Madi stressed.

‘Gray areas’

Madi told podcast listeners that her parents’ main rule “Don’t have sex,” Although she knew very little else at the time.

“The question noted (s) around everything else,” he explained. “What about all the other things? What about porn and what’s just crossing a few lines with your boyfriend? That’s where I didn’t have clarity. Those were the gray areas of all this purity that I wasn’t clear, I wasn’t sure about it. Because that I found myself continuing to push boundaries and keep going further than I wanted to go deep in my heart I knew that I know I know I know I know I know that.

‘Living on his own’

During her podcast about sexuality, Madi reflected on living in complete isolation because she never told anyone about her interest in porn and masturbating.

“At any time you live in secret, it will only make more sin and it will only be ashamed to make more shame because that is where the enemy is thriving,” he argued. “I couldn’t break free until I brought other people into it, until I stopped letting the enemy run my life with living in secrecy and living alone.”

Madi admitted that her lonely teenage lifestyle was “so hard for (she) for so long” as she felt as though she had been “robbed of confidence.”

“I would beat myself up and I would be ashamed because I knew I loved Jesus and I wanted to live life for Jesus, but I didn’t know how to go without -stop. I didn’t know how to break free from that sin,” he noted. “I questioned my value and identity. Every time I gave sexual sin, I didn’t know my purpose.”

‘Purity Life’

“We could then, at the altar, when we gave ourselves to one another and God, body, soul and spirit, we had so much joy and peace because we knew that was something we had followed individually and together,” he noted.

‘God can use the bachelor’

Madi was studying to be a minister when he heard for The bachelor Season 24. She did on the ABC show and eventually finished second, when Peter offered Hannah Ann Sluss.
