Efe Ajagba says it will be “Difficult” For Terence Crawford up to 168 to fight in a foreign weight class that he has never competed during his career of 17 years on September 13. Although Ajagba feels that Crawford (41-0, 31 kos) is “strong”, it will still be a problem for him by jumping two divisions.
Crawford only recently moved heavy weight to a half -junior weight last year. His fight against Israil Madrimov on August 154 showed that his power and speed had deteriorated from how he had acted in 147. This will be more pronounced in Super Middleweight (168), unless Crawford develops a new fortress. This is rare for a fighter close to 40 and with a 50 look.
The power of Crawford is insufficient for the division of 168 pounds. He could not eliminate Madrimov due to the lack of pop, and now fight against Canelo, who has fought in 175 against Sergey Kovalev and Dmitry Bivol. It’s not as if Crawford can go to Walmart and buy some power before September 13.
“It’s strong, but when you go to the weight (168), it will be difficult for you to fight,” said Efe Ajagba to Sean Zittel Two weight classes from 154 have advanced on Terence Crawford to fight Canelo Alvarez in 168.
Ajagba understands what a movement like this would look like for Crawford. He knows he will take a jump too big and not young. Once again, Crawford seems to be a 50 -year -old man now. He has lived a hard life in the ring and is physically displayed on him.
“When you move by weight to fight Canelo, this is not your weight class. This was not what you struggled before,” said Ajagba. “Therefore, it will not feel comfortable, but Canelo will be comfortable with this weight to fight Crawford. I prefer Crawford to go down.”
Crawford’s deteriorating power
Powerwise, Bud Crawford was highlighted at 135, 140 and 147, but only on average at 154. He jumped wisely 160, where he would have been dramatically underlined, and will now move to 168. He will be in the low spectrum and would be forced to trust his fist as a main weapon against Canelo.
Crawford cannot afford to be located in the center of the Again Ring, because it will have holes through it. Crawford’s face seemed to be struck by “Petit GGG” Madrimov, and is not at the level of Alvarez.
