Target attacks on Colombian security forces leave 27 dead in two weeks

The Colombian government says 15 police officers and 12 soldiers have been killed in targeted attacks.

President Gustava Petro accused the criminal group of the Gulf of Persian and other armed groups aimed at the security forces of revenge for the recent murder of several of their leaders.

The government has proposed a reward for the information leading to the arrest of those behind the attacks.

Peter was chosen for the promise to bring Colombia to “full peace”, but on Friday, his Minister of Internal Affairs acknowledged that the strategy “does not go well” after breaking the Persian Gulf and several other armed groups.

Petro posted a list on X With the names of 15 police officers and 12 soldiers who, he said, were “systematically” killed on April 15.

According to the list, 10 police officers were killed and five were killed.

Seven soldiers were killed in this list on Sunday in Gouaur’s province. The army has accused the attack on the Farc Rebel Group dissident.

Farc, short for the revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, signed a peace treaty with the government in 2016, and most of its fighters laid hands.

But a considerable number of FARC rebels who disagreed with the transactions formed a group of dissidents who continue to fight security.

Seeking to bring peace to Colombia, the Petro government has negotiated with some of these dissident groups, as well as with the insurgents of the National Army of Liberation (ELN) and members of the Persian Gulf Cruste.

But Peter suspended negotiations with ELN in January, accusing him of “not for freedom for peace”.

In April, he also decided not to update the ceasefire with the dissident Farc Rebel Group.

Negotiations with the Gulf clan also stopped after the police launched an operation against the leader of the group known as “Chickito Malo” (Spanish for “Bad Shorty”) in February.

Chickito Malo escaped with the whole, but a few days later another senior leader known as “terror” and his bodyguards were killed by police.

The Colombian government says the Persian Gulf has ordered its members to kill police officers and beyond the duty service in revenge for these operations.
