The Taliban Government in Afghanistan has banned chess to further notice from the bay that the game is a source of gambling.
Officials said the game was prohibited endlessly until its compatibility with Islamic legislation could not be determined.
Chess is the last sport that the Taliban is limited. Women are, in fact, it is forbidden to participate in sports.

On Sunday, a press secretary of the Taliban Government Sports Directorate, Atal Mashwani, said the chess law on Islamic Sharia is “considered a means of gambling”.
“There are religious considerations regarding chess sports,” he said AFP.
“Until these opinions are resolved, chess sports have been suspended in Afghanistan.”
One owner of a cafe in Kabul, who has held informal chess competitions in recent years, said he respected the decision, but it would hurt his business.
“Young people are not engaged in a lot of classes these days, so much came here every day,” said Azizul Gulizad.
“They will have a cup of tea and challenge their chess friends.”
He also noted that chess playing in other Muslim countries.
Last year, the authorities banned free battles such as mixed martial arts (MMA) in professional competition, saying it was too “tough” and “problematic against Sharia”.
“It has been found that the sport is problematic with respect to Sharia and has many aspects that contradict Islam’s teaching” Taliban’s press -secretary said last August.
In 2021, the MMA competitions were prohibited when the Taliban introduced a legislation that prohibits “breakdown”.
