Taliban released the detainees US citizen Fu Hall

Former Washington Messenger in Kabul says that an American citizen was released by the Taliban government after being spent two months.

Zalma Khalilsad, who held the position of US Special Representative in Afghanistan since 2018-2021, said on the social media platform X that File Hall “would soon head home” after she was arrested in February.

Ms Hall, who is now in the care of Qatar officials, was detained with the British couple in the seventies – Barbie and Peter Reynolds – and their translator.

The couple conducted training programs for women and girls and remained when the Taliban returned to power. Afghan officials did not make the reasons for their arrest.

In his message, Mr. Khalilsad thanked the Qatar, who was a mediator between the US and Afghanistan.

The US State Department did not immediately respond to a comment request.

Ms. Hall is a fourth US citizen, released by the Taliban since January after Qatar has concluded an agreement with them. Just a few days earlier, they released another American, George Glezman.

At the time, the government said the airline mechanic was released on the “humanitarian soil” and that the decision was a “gesture of goodwill”.

These decisions also come after US officials were posted in the Afghan capital of Kabul.

The hosts Ms. Hall, Barbie and Peter Reynolds remain in detention. The couple met at Bat University, married Kabul in 1970 and have been conducting educational programs in the region for many years.

When the Taliban returned to power in 2021, They were among the few Westerners who decided to stay.

Their daughter Sarah Entvistle told The Sunday Times: “They said they couldn’t leave when Afghans were in their need.”

She said her parents “carefully retain the rules, even when they continued to change.”

Ms. Hall was arrested during a trip with a couple to their home in the Central Bodyan province.

Ms Entvistle said her 79-year-old parent suffers serious medical problems while imprisonment, including breast infection, eye infection and digestive problems. She claimed he was also beaten since his detention.

“Our desperate appeal to the Taliban is that they release them into their home, where they have the medicine he needs to survive,” she said The Sunday Times.
