For the first time Syrians are openly calling Peace with Israel. In an interview with Fox News Digital, journalist Furat Alali from Damascus said: “We want the future without wars. We want to live. People are no longer afraid to speak.”
Her statement reflects a significant shift in the country’s political landscape, as many Syrians are beginning to openly discuss the prospect of peace with Israel. This change occurs at a time when Syria and Israel are negotiating, as shown by Reuters on Tuesday, which means dramatic departure from the hostility of decades between the two countries.

Sources familiar with discussions show that the US has played a key role in facilitating these negotiations, encouraging the new Syria’s leadership to interact with Israel.
Discussions come after a change of policy in the US after the president Donald Trump Meeting with Syrian Chargé President Ahmed Al-Sharaa earlier this month. The meeting signaled the break from the decades of the US hostility to the Assad regime in Syria and opened the door to potential normalization between Syria and Israel.
While negotiations are still in the early stages, Trump’s involvement has caused the Syrian leadership to eventually normalize ties with Israel, although this process will probably take time.
Furat Aliyli explained: “We no longer want to be part of the resistance axis. The Palestinian case was used for us to oppress us. We feel sympathy for the Palestinians, but now we need to focus on Syria and our future.”
