“I am honored to announce Jon Voight, Mel Gibsona Sylvester Stalloneto be Special Ambassadors to a wonderful but very troubled place, Hollywood, California,” the President-elect, 78, wrote via Truly Social on Thursday, January 16. “They will be my Special Envoys for the purpose of bringing Hollywood, which has lost a lot of business over the last four years to Foreign Countries, BACK – BIGGER, BETTER, AND STRONGER THAN EVER IN FRONT!”
Trump added that the three “very talented people” will serve as his “eyes and ears” in the entertainment world.
“I will do what they suggest,” he continued. “Once again, like the United States of America itself, there will be a Golden Age of Hollywood!”
After the news broke, Gibson, 69, suggested that he heard about his appointment at the same time as the rest of the world but shared that he was excited about the new role.
“I got the tweet at the same time as you all and was just as surprised,” the Oscar winner said in a statement to Us Weekly on Thursday. “However, I heeded the call. It is my duty as a citizen to provide any help and insight I can. Any chance the job comes with an Ambassador residence?”
Stallone, 78, Gibson and Voight, 86, who are all award-winning actors, have been vocal supporters of Trump over the years. Stallone made an appearance at Trump’s Florida home at Mar-a-Lago and introduced him during an event in November 2024. Gibson, for his part, publicly endorsed Trump in the 2024 election.
In addition to his Hollywood ambassadors, Trump also previously listed a number of other members he intends to welcome to his team his inauguration on Monday, January 20.
Trump will be sworn in on Monday as the 47th president and the event will feature a number of musical guests including Carrie Underwood, On Jason’s side, Billy Ray Cyrus, Gavin DeGraw, Rascal Flatts, Kid Rock, Village People and more.
“I love our country and I am honored to be asked to sing at the Inauguration and be a small part of this historic event,” Underwood, 41, said in a statement. “I am proud to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in a spirit of unity and look to the future.”
