Surrey County Cricket Club paid an emotional tribute to Lynn Stewart Monday Alec Stewartwho died after a brave 12 -year battle with breast cancer. Lynn Stewart loses long battle with cancer

Lynn Stewart’s passage ended with a long and private cancer fight that began with his diagnosis in 2013. The disease had a deep impact on Alec’s career, which culminated in his decision to leave as his director of Cricket of Surrey in March 2024 of spending more time on his wife and his family.

In a sincere statement at that time, Alec said, “I want to give it and my family, more of my time than this work allows.” The decision reflected his unmatched commitment to his family, despite the huge successful leader in Surrey. During its term, the club flourished: to win four regional championship titles, including a dominant career from three in a row from 2022 to 2024.

Surrey cries the disappearance of Lynn Stewart

On Monday, in the Oval Kia, the mood was very small when the cricketing community stopped to reflect. Flags about Micky Stewart members, called in honor of Alec’s father, another club legend, went down to half-pal, and the players observed a moment of silence before resuming the game.

The Slipper Oil Club chair offered public condolences, saying, “We ask people to respect their privacy during this difficult time. The whole Surrey family meet Alec and their children in their penalty.” The deep bonds of the Stewart family with the club made the time especially significant for players, staff and fans.

Lynn’s disease was largely private over the years, and Alec only spoke publicly in the context of his resignation. Married for decades, the couple is survived by their two children, Andrew and Emily, who have been out of the audience when the family sailed by Lynn’s health with peace of mind.

Although the Surrey game against Hampshire ended in a hard tie, with the resistant century of Nick Gubbins denying the victory in the house, the result was secondary. All around the field, the focus remained firmly in reminding Lynn and supporting the Stewarts.
