Ex-Team India Batter Suresh Raina recently opened on speculations on his return to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on a coach role for IPL 2026. Raina revealed that he had approached the Chennai franchise, but the decision cannot be unilateral and would require an agreement from both parties.

Michael Hussey has been CSK Batting coach since 2018. However, his battle unit fought for consistency in the 2025 season. The five times IPL champions ended at the bottom of the table for the first time. They signed Ayush Mhatre, Dewald Brevis and Urvil Patel in the middle of the tournament.

“I do not know to join the coaching staff of CSK. I have approached them and they have also talked to me. Let’s see how things go. It cannot depend on my desire; both parties need to agree. I have given the franchise so much love and, if the opportunity comes, I will try it. At the moment, it is a waiting situation and surveillance.”

Suresh Raina called LuckNow his home ground and Delhi where he is currently living. He also mentioned Mumbai as another possible destination. However, Raina emphasized that his emotional bond remains with the super kings of Chennai, where he began his IPL trip.

“If Mumbai Indians call, I will go there. Lucknow is also my home ground. I live in Delhi, so you can ask too. I have offers from all over. But the place where it all started, yellow love, it will always be. If they call me yellow, I will work yellow.”

Raina became the first Indian to record centuries in all three formats. He struggled to cease his place in tests, but was common for hatred and T20is for almost a decade. Raina scored 7,988 runs into 322 international parties, including seven centuries and 48 half a century.
