Monsterverse Warner Bros. and Legendary continues to develop. More than a decade in, and the slow and steady approach that the companies have taken with these “godzilla” films (and TV shows) pay off. Last year “Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire” was the largest movie in the franchise so farwhich naturally means we get a sequence. That sequence comes our way in 2027 in the form of “Godzilla X Kong: Supernova.” While the plot details are stored firmly under laps for the time being, the title may well reveal the next Kaiju Godzilla and Kong will need to fight them.

While this is largely speculative at this point, the term “Supernova” refers to “a star explosion where the star can reach the indigenous lightness of one billion times greater than the sun.” These cases can lead to black holes, which are key. The title seems to suggest the space and possibly black holes that, in the history of “godzilla” franchise, highlights one very specific monster: Spacegodzilla.
As part of the franchise’s Heishi era, The Kaiju in question made his first appearance in “Godzilla vs Spacegodzilla” in 1994. Although the film itself is not necessarily a dear record in general, the monster in question is very unique and extremely powerful. It is also a logical fight for the king’s king, having been created from godzilla genetic material itself.

Following the destructive arrival of the beast to “Godzilla vs Spacegodzilla,” scientists on the ground discover that he has Godzilla cells, aka G-cells. So, they name Spacegodzilla. It is further explained that G cells were only sent twice twice: once through a passage from Biolante of “Godzilla vs Biollante” in 1989 And once when some godzilla flesh was attached to Mothra. Things are even weir when it is determined that those same cells were swallowed up by a black hole and then pushed out of a white hole in space before being “assimilated (by) crystal organisms during its rapid evolution (AC) exposed to tremendous energy of star explosions.” Godzilla movies are sometimes strange. Personally, I wouldn’t have any other way, but that’s not here or there.
After the climatic battle of the film where Spacegodzilla is defeated, it is further explained that it is the result of the “vicious” genes of G. Cells G. One of the film’s last lines argues further that his arrival “is a warning to mankind.” Point of being, it seems very likely that the next Monsterverse movie is teasing the ball for Spacegodzilla. Allowed, there are other monsters hail from space, like King Ghirdorah, but this one seems to make the most sense, Given the few we know about “godzilla x kong: supernova” at this point.

Some evidence now supports Spacegodzilla theory as well. Apple TV+’S Monarch: Legacy of Monsters “left Episode 4, entitled” Parallels and Interiors, “some bread crumbs that could lead back to this particular monster. Chapter also suggests that the gates to empty earth have the same energy as black holes, which explains why they allow for instant travel and warp time itself.
It also helps that “the new Empire” has made it absolutely clear that there is little blank earth mapped out. Who knows what secrets might be hiding there? Gateway to space that Kaiju might very dangerously slip through?

How is all this going to contact Spacegodzilla theoretically? That’s up to director Grant Sputore and author Dave Callaham, but the pieces are evident on the table. Up to this point, the monster has created His own monster villains, as the skar King is “The New Empire.” Still, it has been a minute since it brought in a classic beast from the “godzilla” franchise past, with “Godzilla: King of the Monsters” in 2019 featuring Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah. It may be time to give a modern makeover to another existing monster. Let’s see.
“Godzilla X Kong: Supernova” is expected to hit theaters on March 26, 2027.
