A high -proportion summit between US President Donald Trump and Russia Vladimir Putin did not lead to a breakthrough, even if Trump called the summit “productive”, while Putin offered another meeting in Moscow.
Negotiations were confused at the White House – an attempt was made to ensure the ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, the press -secretary Carolyn Levit, who calls the summit: “Exercise for the President.”
After the meeting on Friday, Trump said: “There is no deal until there is a deal.”
Ukraine did not go into discussion, causing concern that the potential transaction could violate the country’s sovereignty. “Ukraine is ready to work as productively as possible to bring the war to the end, and we look forward to a strong position from America … Need a meeting of leaders – at least Ukraine, America and the Russian side,” said President Vladimir Zelensky in office at X to the summit.
It was Putin’s first visit to the United States for about ten years, and the Russian president stressed that it was a “difficult time” for bilateral relations. The meeting was held in Alaska, which was once a Russian territory.
“There were many, many points we agreed … I would say that a few big ones we did not get, but we took a step,” Trump said at a joint press conference with Putin. Leaders did not accept any questions from the press.

Putin called the negotiations as a “starting point”, both to resolve the conflict with Kiev and to improve relations with Washington, which, he said, “fell to the lowest point after the Cold War.”
Trump called Putin’s observations “deep” and added that he would talk to NATO and Zelensky to update them about discussions with Russia. “It eventually depends on them,” he said.
“There have been many moments agreed on this. There are very little things left. Some are not so important. One is perhaps the most significant, but we have a very good chance of getting there,” Trump said, not specifying.
Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, several rounds of peace talks have taken place in 2022, but there has been no breakthrough in the cessation of hostilities.
The Russian media were decorated on Friday before a meeting with Putin with Trump, and the summit was recognized as a victory for Moscow. Comment on Russian news sites Described negotiations as positive for Russia. The mood in Ukraine was gloomy against the backdrop of fears when the country lost some territory in a transaction with a broker Trump.
