“It’s controversial whether that is considered cheating or not,” Han noted people in an interview released after the premiere of the July 2025 season. “Because they are technically broken up. This is how different people (interpret it).”
He continued: “I think, for me, as the creator of the world and the characters, that I have to have empathy for all of them.”

“I think Jeremiah really thought they had broken up. I don’t think Belly feels the same way,” said Han Vanity fair in July 2025. “It feels like a huge betrayal.”
Han acknowledged Jeremiah’s mistake, adding, “He wouldn’t feel great for anyone-even if both sides thought they had been broken up-to open Instagram and see your ex-partner with someone else so soon.”
Lola Tung
During the same interview, Tung weighed out who was in the wrong.

Although Brancey’s character, Conrad, is not part of the Story of Infidelity line, the actor still had thoughts.
“(It’s a) a gray area but would I say they are on break? I guess nothing,” he told Vanity fair. “I don’t support either decision, but sleeping with someone on your spring break and then coming back along with your love is slightly sleazier.”
