The International Court (CU) is considering a case that Sudan has accused the United Arab Emirates of “Competition in Genocide” during the current civil war.
The two -year conflict, which submitted the Sudan Army against the Passioned Fast Support Forces (RSF), led to tens of thousands of deaths and forced more than 12 million in his homes.
Sudan claims that the UAE is armed with RSF in order to destroy the Western Darfur mosquito. The UAE has stated that the case is a cynical trick and is looking for immediate dismissal.
Ever since the war began, both the RSF and the Sudanese army have been accused of atrocities.
According to Sudan’s case, RSF carried out systematic attacks on non -field groups, especially on the Masalian community, to destroy them as a clear ethnic group.
Among other things, he also claims that RSF used rape as weapons against civilians.
Earlier this year, the United States also accused RSF of performing genocide and imposed sanctions to its leader Mohammed Hamdan, also known as Hamedti.
Gene Hemedti had previously denied that his militants intentionally aimed at civilians.
Since the ICD is engaged in disputes between the states, Sudan’s military government cannot take RSF to court.
Instead, she started a case against one of the alleged sponsors.
Sudan claims that these atrocities were allowed to have a broad financial, military and political support of the UAE, including arms supplies, drone training and a recruitment of mercenaries.
It states that this means that the UAE is a complicit in genocide.
Sudan is looking for reparations and urgent measures to prevent further genocidal acts.
The UAE has strongly rejected the allegations, denying that it was armed with RSF and stated that she would look for immediate dismissal.
“The CU is not a scene for political pageant, and it should not be armed for misinformation,” the UAE said.
“This is nothing but a cynical PR blow … The attempt to reject their well-documented atrocities against the Sudanese people and its refusal to stop the fire or negotiate.”
In court Thursday, Sudan’s legal team claimed that there was a risk of damage to Masalia, and the CU had an urgent need to intervene to provide any further genocidal acts.
Sudan asked the judges to make the decision that the UAE should be blocked by RSF. And the UAE should inform the court how these measures are being taken.
The UAE is expected to say that the case should be thrown.
Most legal experts seem to agree that the case has little chance of going beyond that moment.
The UAE has reservation – or refuse – to the genocide Convention, which in previous cases meant, the CU, has no jurisdiction over these types of claims.
However, attracting his complaints to the UN Supreme Court, Sudan drew attention to the fact that he claims that this is the UAE role in the conflict.
From the point of view, what is next, you need to know within a few weeks when the judges decide that they can act at the request of Sudan so that they have issued, which essentially means a ban – preliminary measures to fulfill their obligations to prevent genocide action.
The ICD rulings are legally mandatory, but the court itself has no direct powers to comply with its decisions.
