When it comes to new $ 799 Meta Ray-Ban display glasses, this is an accompanying fuzzy, gray bracelets that really dazzle.
I managed to try the smart goggles of the next generation Meta, which company social media announced On Wednesday at the annual event Connect. These are the first glasses that Meta sells consumers with a built -in display that marks an important step for the company, as it works against the vision of CEO Mark Zuckerberg about the presence of a headset and glasses, has overtaken smartphones, because the vast formation of people’s calculations.
However, the display on new glasses is still quite simplified. Last year, Connect Meta introduced its orion glasses, which is a prototype capable of covering complex 3D -visual materials for the physical world. These glasses were thick, demanded computing and were built only for demo methods.
The Meta Ray-Ban display, however, is sold to the public since the United States on September 30.
Although new glasses include only a small digital display in the right lens, this screen allows unique visual features, such as reading messages, viewing photos viewing and reading live signatures while talking to someone.
The control of the device requires you to dress on the EMG’s combustion sensor, which detects electrical signals formed by a person’s body so that they can control the glasses through the hand gestures. Putting it was the way to tie the clock, except for the small electric push that I felt when it is activated. It was not so much a shock as you feel like exporting clothes from the dryer, but it was noticeable.
Giving new glasses was less shocking until I saw them and saw that a small display would appear just below my right cheek. The display is similar to a miniature smartphone screen, but translucent, so as not to darken objects in the real world.
Despite the high resolution display, the icons were not always clear when my view in the real world was contrasted, causing the letters a little cloudy. These visual effects are not designed to wrap the head in crystal clean loyalty, but are it for you to perform simple actions, such as activation of glasses camera and looking into the song on Spotify. This is more useful than entertainment.

I was the most fun trying to perform hands gestures to move through the display and open applications. Squeezing the fist and leaving the thumb on the surface of my pointer, I managed to scroll the applications as I used the touchpad.
At first, I needed a few attempts to open the camera app by clamping your index finger and thumb together, and if the app is not activated, I would have clutched twice by mimicking your mouse on your computer. But while using a mouse for me is the second nature, I learned that I have the skills of pinching the unit that lacks the correct cadence and terms necessary for the consistently opening of the application.
It was a little strange and funny to see people in front of me while I constantly clamped my fingers to interact with the screen. I felt like I was recovering A shameful comedy scene From the television show “Children in the Hall”, in which the mizanthrop watches the people from afar, pressing the fingers and saying, “I blow your head, I will blow your head!”
With the camera app finally opened, the display showed that I was watching in front of me, giving me a preview of how my photos and videos turn out. It was like having my personal picture function in the picture, as you, on TV.
I felt that I sometimes felt some cognitive dissonance, because my eyes were constantly finding out what to focus on the display that always sits near the center of my sight. If you, if, underwent a vision test that provides identification when you see how tricky lines appeared on your periphery, you have a sense of what I felt.
In addition to pinching, the Meta Ray display glasses can also be monitored with the Meta AI voice assistant, just as users can with your device’s predecessors.
When I photographed some of the paintings that decorate the show halls, I was told by the service staff to ask Meta Ai to explain to me what I was looking at. Supposedly, Meta Ai would tell me that I was looking at different paintings from the Bahaus art movement, but the digital assistant never stepped up properly before I was spent in another part of the demo.
I could see how the Live Display Meta Ray-Ban feature is useful in noisy situations because it successfully lifted the Voice of the Demo Excursion Guide, while dance music from the Connect event. When he said, “Let’s all go to the next room,” I saw how his words appear on the display as closed in the television show.
But in the end, I was most attracted to the bracelet, especially when I listened to music with glasses through Spotify. Turning the thumb and the index finger as if I was turning an invisible stereo -pepper,
I managed to set up a volume that is supposed to have a great experience.
It was this neuronic bracelet that really drilled into my brain, how many advanced technologies was stuffed in new Meta Ray-Ban glasses. And although the high price of the device can exclude consumers, the glasses are enough for the potentially attract developers seeking more computing platforms to create applications.
Watch: The next important withest technology will be glasses, says Meta Product Chief Product.
