Postgraduate student Cornella, who withdrew his visa in the United States because of the protest activity against Israel, decided to leave the United States rather than deport.
Momodou Taal, who is a joint citizen of the UK and Gambia, was withdrawn with his student visa last year because of his protests on the campus when the Israel-Gaza war was raging.
Earlier, Mr. Taal sued his deportation, but on Monday on X posted that he decided to leave the country “free and with my head high”. This happens after the judge denied his request to detain the deportation.
The Trump administration hacked foreign students who actively protested against Israel on campus.
Mr -no Taal is at least a second foreign student who decided to leave the United States after being aimed at removing the US Internal Security. Trump administration identifies these cases as “independent deportations”.
“Given what we saw throughout the United States, I lost the belief that the favorable court ruling guarantees my personal security and the ability to express my beliefs,” Monday posted Mr. Taal.
“I lost my faith.
Mr. Taal was twice rejected by Cornell, ivy League school in the northern state of New York from the protest events. On the day of Hamas’s attack against Israel in 2023, he outlined: “Glory to resistance.”
“We are solidarily with armed resistance in Palestine from the river to the sea,” he later said to the crowd of protesters, reports Cornell Daily Sun Newspaper.
Last week, Secretary of State Mark Rubio said at least 300 university students had been withdrawn due to participation in Proletinian protests.
Trump officials have said the law on immigration and nationality allows the State Department to deport non-citizens who “compete for foreign security and national security interests”.
The arrests are part of Trump’s promise in the fight against the fact that the administration classified as anti -Semitism, which was recorded in the executive order in January.
Critics have abandoned deportations as a violation of free speech.
Another student who decided to leave in the United States, Indian scientist Ranjani Schrinivason, said CNN that he wanted to clear his name.
“I’m not a terrorist sympathy,” she said CNN, adding, “I’m just a casual student.”
She added that she hoped to register again at the Colombian University, which was the Epicenter of Student Protests last year and finish his doctoral program.
