Steven Weber Shares Idea for Team Daly Wings and Chicago Med Crossover

Steven Weber a Tim Daly now playing TV brothers, but Weber would be happy to reunite with his ex Wings costar on Med Chicago.

Weber – who plays Dr. Dean Archer on the NBC drama — already had an idea about a Chicago With a story line that would be funny and embarrassing for Daly, 68.

“It would be great if he came forward as himself,” Weber, 63, said entirely Us Weekly of Daly in promoting season 10 of Med Chicago.

The actor teased that Daly, in his dream, “suddenly finds himself in Chicago and I have to act on it. And he keeps saying, ‘God, you remind me of someone,’” hinting at their past connection.

Weber joked that no matter who Daly was playing on a hypothetical With episode, his character, Dr. Archer, “give him an embarrassing operation, like a colonoscopy.”

The One Chicago star noted, “It would be huge” to have Daly come on the medical drama, noting that they had not yet discussed the possibility.

Weber and Daly previously played brothers Brian Michael Hackett and Joe Montgomery Hackett, respectively Wings.

The comedy ran for eight seasons – between 1990 and 1997 – focusing on Brian and Joe as they try to run an airline on the New England island of Nantucket. The cast also included Crystal Bernard, David Schramm, Rebecca Schull, Tony Shalhoub a Thomas Haden Church.

Weber previously revealed there was a “slim” chance he and Daly could reunite for a Wings reunion on camera. “We’re all around, so if the public really demands it (then, maybe),” he teased during a March 2020 appearance on The Conversation.

Weber explained at the time that he was “so grateful” to still be part of the acting industry. “If we never get some sort of restart, that’s fine. We put on a good show and people love it,” he added.

While Weber said Us that it is all-in on Daly pop up on Med Chicago at one point, he said there are many other things to look forward to as season 10 continues.

“There are more subtle aspects to wait on,” Weber said of Archer’s decision not to leave the ED after successfully saving Sharon Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) life during the midseason premiere earlier this month.

The actor noted that even though Archer is staying on, that doesn’t mean it will be smooth sailing. (Archer previously slipped his resignation letter under Goodwin’s door during mid-season finale in autumn 2024. At the time, he did not know that Goodwin had been stabbed by a stalker in his office and was fighting to stay alive.)

“This incident is really affecting him, and it’s affecting him emotionally down the line,” Weber said, referring to Goodwin nearly dying on his operating table.

He added that while Archer’s job is safe for now, he will have “some surprises moving forward” in his personal life.

Weber said Us that Archer’s “connection” with fellow doctor Hannah Asher (Jessy Schram) is also a major part of the remaining episodes of season 10.

She called Archer a “fatherly or brotherly” figure to Hannah. “There’s something there that he’s not used to that he hasn’t really … experienced that he’s experiencing with her,” Weber shared.

He concluded that Archer and Asher’s bond is complicated, especially now that Asher is romantically involved with Dr. Mitch Ripley (Luke Mitchell). “He wants her to be happy, but he also feels kind of protective of her,” Weber revealed.
