“It is a great option, but it is important to give it time to adapt to the role. It is a huge responsibility … Representing from 1.4 to 1.5 billion people comes with a lot of pressure, and it is young, so he will have a good opportunity to show him as a captain.” added Waugh.
Waugh made comparisons between Gill and Dhoni, highlighting their similar and compound calm behaviors. He said that, like Dhoni, Gill has the ability to bring stability and clarity to the team.
