Apple TV+ New Musical Competition Show Kpopped is to cut musical boundaries, one cooperation at a time.
The show was performed for the first time on the Streamer on Friday, August 29, including a list of Western artists and K-Pop, including J BalvinTLC, Boyz II Men, ATEEZ and ITZY. Every artist has the opportunity to re -draw a popular song as they all compete to win the hearts of a live audience – all in good fun, of course.
“It’s not your traditional music competition. It’s a very celebrated celebration, it’s a very warm heart, and the big focus is the language of music,” producer Moira Ross shared only with Weekly US. Since the 2010s, K-pop has grown to become a global phenomenon and, with the genre’s biggest artists often reaching global charts, creating Kpopped is without brain.
The idea for the first show was formed in 2021, following a meeting between the Vice Chairman of CJ Enm Miky Lee and the myth of music Lionel Richieproducer Jake Hong explain to Us.
“They shared a common belief in the power of music – that music crossed cultures, languages and generations – (a) they came with an idea,” he said. The team then created a “great TV show” that would both bridge the world’s K-pop world and the western pop world, sharing the amazing talent that comes from all sides.
To Ross – who used to work as a show runner The uk voice and The singer hidden – The show’s competition attitude came second to highlight the ways in which music can unite people.
“From my personal point of view, I know that what we wanted was an absolute joyful experience. So the competition is fun and light, really, and it’s just a pure celebration,” said Ross.
“I think it’s about K-Pop,” said Hong, explaining that their shared vision focuses on “celebrating music and creativity without borders.” Ross added that it was particularly important that the show remains valid to Korean culture, inspiring their decision to film the show on the site in Seoul, South Korea.
“We really try to make sure we show Korea in a lovely way,” said Ross Us. They are extremely grateful for all the artists who took part, and Hong was joking that it was a “almost miracle” they were able to secure such a starry line. Hong was particularly excited to bring Seoul a few legacy artists. “I was really glad to see Spice Girls and Boys II Men come to the show. It’s very exciting,” he explained.
The whole process, from pre-production to Première, took a long total of nine months, but Ross is confident that it is all “history in doing.”
“It’s great, at last seen coming out,” he continued, saying that being able to see the positive responses from viewers finally had been “a very exciting next step.” Seeing the show at last Premiere feels like a full circle moment, and it’s really excited to highlight how music is really a world -wide language.
