US immigration authorities searched the Hyundai massive production site in Georgia, led to more than 450 people who were allegedly illegally in the country.
The 3000 acres website built by the Korean car manufacturer for the production of electric vehicles has been working throughout the year.
The Internal Security Department told the BBC CBS News partner that the agents have been searched for allegations of “illegal employment practice and other serious federal crimes”.
Korean citizens were among the detainees, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Korea said, calling it an “unjust violation” of their rights.
“The economic activity of Korean investment companies and rights and interests of Korean citizens should not be unjustly violated during law enforcement operations,” the statement said.
The ministry added that he sends diplomats to the site.
“In Seoul, we also passed our problems and regretted today through the US Embassy in Korea and urged them to carry out great caution to ensure that the legal rights and interests of Korea’s citizens are not violated.”
