Police notes that the South African Hospital cleaner was arrested after a bag of human placenta in the Eastern province of Mpumalang was found.
Rosa Mnisi allegedly sought potential buyers for the body’s body when seized by security officers after leaving.
“After appealed to the police, the woman was caught in a person’s tissues. The woman confirmed that she was a cleaner in the maternity ward,” the police said.
A 39-year-old woman appeared in court on Thursday, threatening charges of illegal storage of a person. Parts of the body were confiscated and sent to the Medical Analysis. She has not yet answered the allegations.
Police said the suspect was a “auto -stop” in the Nelspruju area when she was arrested by officers who conducted ordinary patrols in Lidenburg, also known as Mashishing.
According to the police, she had an unknown number of human placenta in a plastic bag.
Police said the woman was “accused accordingly”, adding that it could not rule out the possibility of additional payments if the investigation is ongoing.
It is expected that in court next month a request for a recognizance.
