South Africa’s authorities say they will continue the court case against Nigerian television Timothy Amotos, who was justified by rape last month, although he left the country.

Mr. Amotos, who denied 32 charges against him, was accused of sexual attack on young women from his church in the port -Elizabeth.

The national pursuit (NPA) states that he will still appeal the court decision, which he admitted to Mr.

The South African Internal Affairs Department said Mr. Amotos flew to Nigeria from Tambo International Airport, where he was filmed by a public Sabc television company in hoodies and dark sunglasses.

Mr. Amotos was first arrested in 2017 when he tried to leave South Africa.

Among his accusers was a woman who said she was raped by the shepherd when she was 14 years old.

In a statement, the South African prosecutors accepted: “There is no legal reason to prevent” Mr. Amotos leave the country after his acquittal.

However, when the appeal was allowed, the authorities will apply for Mr. Amotos to be extradited back to South Africa, the statement was added, emphasizing “a bilateral extradition agreement with Nigeria”.

After the acquittal in April, Mr. Amotos also collided with immigration issues with Department of Internal Affairs, which claims earlier this month that he was in South Africa illegally.

On Sunday, the Department made a statement stating that Mr. Amotos was attributed to an “unwanted man”, that is, he would not be able to return to the country for five years.
