Former Captain of India Sourav Gangul will take on his first role as coach as main coach of the capitals pretest for the SA20 2025-26 season. The former Cricket Control Consultation in India (BCCI) replaces the old England Baters Jonathan Trott, who left after a year.
Gangul had served as director of the Delhi Capitals team during 2018-19 and 2022-24. After retiring as a player, Gangul also held leadership positions as chairman of the Bengal Cricket Association (CAP) and BCCI. He served as President of BCCI from 2019 to 2022, before Roger Binny succeeded him.
The Capital Pretoria announced Sourav Ganguly as the new main coach on Instagram. Above all, this will be his first full -time coaching role in the professional cricket. The franchise expressed its excitement for the experience and the leadership that it will bring to the team.

“The prince is ready to bring a Royal Flair to the capital camp! We are ecstatic to announce Sourav Ganguly as the new main coach,” the team wrote on Instagram.
Jonathan Trott abandoned the main coach of the capitals pretest after a single season. The team won only two wins in 10 group games and failed to reach the knockouts. The franchise thanked social media for their leadership and dedication.
Pretoria Capital confirmed the same on social media, saying: “Jonathan trott, forever grateful for your leadership and unmatched dedication to the team. All the best of your next adventure! A blow to the capital, always a capital!”
It is expected that Jonathan Trott, currently a coach of Afghanistan, will manage the team at the T20 2026 World Cup, which will be held in India and Sri Lanka.
To avoid a programming confrontation with the World Cup, the 2026 edition of the SA20 has been postponed. The South Tournament -Africa T20 will now take place from December 26 to January 25.
