Social media and video networks have become the main source of news in the United States, overtaking traditional TV channels and news, studies say.
More than half (54%) people get news from networks such as Facebook, X and YouTube – TV (50%) and news sites (48%), the Reuters Institute reports.
“The growth of social media and the news based on the individual is not characteristic of the United States, but it seems that changes occur faster and with greater impact in other countries,” the report said.
The Podcaster Joe Rogan was the broadest person who, almost a quarter (22%), said they encountered news or comments last week.
The author of the report Nick Newman said that the rise of social videos and news guided by the person “is another significant challenge for traditional publishers.”
The Institute also emphasized the tendency of some politicians to give its time sympathetic intercourse, not the main interviewers.
It states that populist politicians around the world “are increasingly capable of bypassing traditional journalism in favor of friendly guerrilla media,” persons “and” influential “who often get special access, but rarely ask difficult questions, and many are even worse.”
Despite their popularity, online influences and persons were named the main source of false or deceptive information almost half people around the world (47%) – putting them at the level with politicians.
